Cirella Jones was born and bred in Trinidad and migrated to New York in 1997 now residing in East New York Brooklyn.

Coming from a very colorful and vibrant culture that's Trinidad and Tobago……de carnival and de bacchanal.....ah trini type ah scene, Cirella references the Trini greats like Boscoe Holder, Jackie Hinkson, Leroy Clarke and of course Ms Pat Bishop. And like the greats, she loves to use color and shape and texture and my paintings reflect just that. Lots and lots of color, themes reflecting women of color, without any real facial features, big lips, of various shades, unique natural hair styles, extravagantly bright and showy accessories from necklaces, hair and ear pieces of different shapes and globs of paint adding texture.

As an artist its hard to be yourself and stand by your imaginative spirit in front the canvas and away from it. When she picks up a paint brush, Cirella’s heart flourishes, “for any woman that creates art, her heart is pure, exposed even, but filled with love”-Cirella Jones
